About Us :

Lexington's music program, Music in the Park, began in 1994 with three summer concerts in the Lexington Village Park. This small effort grew over the years to become an annual concert schedule of eight free summer musical events held in Patrick Tierney Park at the Lexington harbor.

In 1999 the courageous group of local volunteers began the annual Lexington Bach Festival. This four-day festival brings world-class musicians to Lexington to perform together honoring the musical genius of Bach and many of his friends.

In 2002, the organization became a non-profit Corporation and was formally named The Lexington Arts Council. Also in 2002, the Council added another musical venue to its schedule and began the sponsorship of Thumbfest with the Blue Water Folk Society.

The annual programming budget of the Lexington Arts Council now exceeds $90,000 and is raised through modest gate receipts for The Lexington Bach Festival, the generous financial support of corporate and individual contributors, and the hard work of the members of this all-volunteer organization.
