Kerrytown Concert House is honored to welcome Indian Carnatic Percussion master Vidwan Ganesh Kumar, who is credited with popularizing the Kanjira (South Indian Frame Drum) in the USA, Europe and other countries through his virtuosic performances and dedication to education. This concert is part of his summer 2024 ensemble concert tour entitled “Soulful Strings,” and serves to continue the great legacy of the late Sri T H Subash Chandran. He brings with him an outstanding ensemble of musicians for a program that will showcase the depth and power of the Kanjira and Konnakol, but will also include Carnatic Guitar and the Ghatam: Vignesh Shankar is one of only a few artists playing Indian classical carnatic music on the guitar; Sarvesh Shankar performing on the Ghatam - a claypot instrument carrying the legacy of his grandfather; and Sanjay Sankaran playing the Mridangam - a double headed drum used in the classical carnatic concerts in India.

Sri G Vignesh Shankar - Carnatic Guitar
Sri Ganesh Kumar - Kanjira & Konnakol
Sri Sarvesh Shankar - Ghatam
Sri Sanjay Sankaran - Mridangam

This concert is generously sponsored by Ensemble Sponsors Ashish & Norma Sarkar.
