Meridian Township will host the 25th Annual Memorial Day Service at the Glendale Cemetery. There will be pre-ceremony bagpipes, Okemos Boy Scouts Color Guard with drum cadence, an assortment of music from the Meridian Community Band, Okemos Girl Scouts providing commemorative pins and refreshments, the Pledge of Allegiance, a presentation by Meridian Township Clerk Brett Dreyfus entitled “Our Amazing American Flag”, a selection of hymns from the various branches of military, benediction by a local religious leader and a keynote speaker.
Meridian Township will carry on the tradition of honoring and paying respect to the dedicated brave men and women who served in the military, as well as celebrating those who had stepped up to protect the nation.
Brett Dreyfus, Meridian Township Clerk said: “It is important for our community to honor those individuals who made enormous sacrifices – sometimes giving their lives in the defense of our nation and our democracy. Others suffered permanent injuries and carry the scars of their commitment to protecting our cherished freedoms.”
